Santini swung by to visit on Friday, showing off the clothing in the Autumn/Winter 2017 range, and here are some of the highlights.
We’re not wishing the summer away but if past experience is anything to go by autumn will arrive sooner or later and then winter will follow. That’s the way it tends to work, like it or not, and as every good Scout/Guide knows, it’s good to be prepared.
Skin Windbreaker £74.99
Everyone needs a lightweight wind jacket that can be stowed in a rear pocket and brought out when the temperature drops or you hit a long descent. Santini’s new Skin jacket comes in a race cut and weighs 140g. The side panels and the underside of the arms are made from Aquazero, a stretchy Lycra fabric with a water repellent treatment.
Beta Light Jersey £129.99
Santini’s Beta jersey is now into its third generation. Made from Gore Windstopper fabric with carbon inserts on the back and sides, it’s a slim cut. Like other jerseys of this kind, the Beta Light isn’t intended to be fully waterproof but it does provide protection against showers and road spray in changeable conditions, and it’s designed to be more breathable than a waterproof jacket. You can team up the Beta Light Jersey with something like Santini’s Beta arm warmers and Eureka bib shorts which offer water resistance too.
Vega 2.0 Jersey £115.99
Santini has updated its thermal, race cut Vega jersey, made from SITIP’s Blizzard fabric which is stretchy and comes with an AcquaZero treatment for water resistance. Rather than being printed, the dots on the chest and cuffs are actually the lower layer showing through holes in the outer layer.
You get a similar detail on the legs of the Vega 2.0 bib tights (£139.99). If the black/yellow version doesn’t do it for you, the Vega 2.0 Jersey is available in black/red and black/orange too.
H Way Jacket £159.99
The new H Way jacket uses Gore’s Windstopper Fuga fabric (like Santini’s Beta Winter Jacket, £159.99) which is windproof and water resistant, while the inner collar, cuffs and sides are made from a thermofleece for warmth. Several other garments are also available in this nautica blue, including Myego bib tights (£105.99). Other colours are available too.
Epic Jersey £89.99
The Epic jersey is another new addition and it’s available in a nautica blue finish too (among other options).
It’s a simple Roubaix jersey with slanted, double-layer cuffs and a reflective stripe across the top of the three rear pockets.
Coral 2.0 L/S Jersey £79.99
The women’s Coral range has been updated with new colours. The jersey is made from a lightweight thermofleece fabric and, as well as pockets on the back, comes with an added pocket on either side for easier access.
