Primal expands urban lifestyle clothing range

Latest Happy Trails Apparel range combines cycling features with urban lifestyle design

Cycle clothing that offers all the technical features necessary to work well on the bike but not look out of place off the bike has risen in popularity over the years, and Primal has just launched its own take on the fashion trend.

Called Happy Trails Apparel, it’s a range of clothing that is designed to be as suitable for the commute to the office as it is working in said office. The new range is said to combine progressive style with cutting-edge features and is aimed at commuters, racers and coffee stop cyclists.

Primal has been gradually moving into this lifestyle market over the last two years, says Primal’s James Smith. “This is just the latest and biggest step,” he tells road.cc. “We do not want to lose our focus but we do know there is an incredibly diverse cycling market out there and we want to be able to reach them all.”

“The cycling market is now so diverse that we almost all know someone that rides whether that be a racer or a commuter.  This range is designed to avoid pigeonholing anyone,” he adds.

The new range features baggy shorts, shirts, jerseys, jackets and tights, with a muted colour palette that the company says provides the ideal way to mix and match an urban wardrobe. Each product will feature cycling-specific features like expandable pockets, zipped ankle cuffs, reflective accents and stretch panels in key places.

Primal will be launching the full range with prices before Christmas, and we’ll be taking a closer look when some samples arrive soon. www.primaleurope.com

He's a seasoned cyclist of all disciplines, from road to mountain biking, touring to cyclo-cross, he only wishes he had time to ride them all. He's mildly competitive, though he'll never admit it, and is a frequent road racer but is too lazy to do really well. He currently resides in the Cotswolds, and you can now find him over on his own YouTube channel David Arthur - Just Ride Bikes

What is quite funny, is how their website makes no reference to this new collection...

"is aimed at commuters, racers and coffee stop cyclists".

Possibly commuters, if they are gullable enough to believe that body warmers, baggy shorts and white daps are fashionable and/or functional. But no self-respecting roadie is going to be wearing this garb come race day or cafe ride.
