Conquest's Performance 1 Long Sleeve Cycling Jersey is a well-made, slim-fitting Roubaix Lycra top for wearing in spring and autumn or as part of a layered system right into winter.
The jersey is made from a synthetic mix that's extremely stretchy. That means that the it sits very close to your body and arms, but it doesn't feel at all tight or uncomfortable. I found the sleeves a generous length, which can be a concern for long-limbed types, and the elasticated binding at the cuffs stopped air blowing in there.
You can see in the photos that the top panels of the arms/shoulders are a little shinier than the other fabrics used, but unlike those areas on some jerseys, they aren't windproof. You get quite a lot of insulation here courtesy of the brush-backed fabrics but air can certainly get in and out. That means the Performance 1 jersey offers a high level of breathability, although you'll probably need something windproof over the top when the weather gets colder. I'll have a gilet over the top when the temperature drops below about 12°C.
You get a few neat little features here. For example, as well as yer bog standard three rear pockets, there's an additional zipped fourth one for your valuables. A slot in the fabric allows you to feed an earphones lead through, if that's your thing.
Very stretchy fabrics like you get here often stretch down really low and get in the way when you fill up the pockets with full winter supplies, but I didn't have that trouble here because of the close fit. The jersey holds everything against your body so it doesn't have the chance to sag down. Well, that's how it worked for me, anyway.
The full-length front zip comes with an easy to grab puller and a fold of fabric at the top prevents it irritating your chin. Although it fits closely, the collar isn't the highest ever which is another reason why I'd say the Performance 1 is more suited to spring and autumn rather than the heart of winter.
You can certainly get spring/autumn jerseys a lot cheaper than this, but the good features and high quality all round help to justify the price.
Verdict
Slim-fitting and breathable thermal jersey best suited to spring and autumn use.

Quite. I was wondering where the cycling infrastructure is located that causes drivers to go 90 on the M3?
