Bioflex Glove Plus Zero

The Bioflex Plus Zero gloves are a stretchy autumn/spring weight design with good grip.

The back section of each hand is made from a stretchy nylon fabric (a lot like Lycra), and so are the double-thickness cuffs. The palm side is made from a nylon/polyurethane mix. That fabric isn't stretchy, it feels like a very thin suede.

The section between the thumb and the forefinger – where you put the pressure when you rest on the hoods – is reinforced with a second layer, as is the heel of the hand and the area at the base of the fingers. These latter two also feature tacky, rubbery grippers that do a great job of stopping your hands from slipping on the bars. There's no gripper on the fingers, but I didn't have any trouble shifting or braking properly even in damp conditions.

One of the best features, in my eyes, is the long cuff. It's [reaches for ruler] 6.5cm long so there's no danger at all of any exposed skin between your jersey and gloves (don't be silly – I'm assuming you're wearing a long sleeve jersey).

In terms of warmth, these gloves offer about the same level of insulation as a pair of woollen gloves, but a little extra wind resistance because of the denser fabric. There's really not a whole lot in it, though. Personally, I'd be wearing these in temperatures about 7-14°C, something like that. You might use them in slightly cooler conditions

They're standing up to regular use really well with barely any signs of wear so far, and the seams are all still intact, so I reckon these will see plenty of autumn/spring use for a long time to come.

The only potential negative is a lack of any padding. If you want some, you'll need to wear track mitts underneath, which isn't a problem because of the stretchiness.

Verdict

Comfortable and grippy gloves for keeping the chills off in autumn and spring.
