If your carbon parts are slipping, Motorex Carbon Grease will help keep them in place.
A carbon assembly compound is essential for securing carbon components together, such as ensuring a carbon fibre seatpost doesn't slip in a frame. I've been using Motorex's Carbon Grease on a new 3T carbon seatpost in a carbon frame for the past few weeks through all sorts of weather, and haven't had a single problem with slippage.
The grease essentially increases friction between two surfaces, and can lower the clamping forces needed to hold a component in place. If you've ever had to overtighten a seatclamp to stop the post slipping, that is the time for carbon grease. The grease, paste or compound as it's commonly referred to, has a gritty texture between the fingers. This gives the carbon component a rougher finish so there's less chance for the part to slip.
It can be used with any carbon component, be it a handlebar, stem or seatpost. It can be used on a carbon steerer, seat rails, where the stem or brake levers clamp the handlebar, though many carbon handlebars come with a roughened area to avoid the necessity for a carbon assembly compound. Anywhere you need to avoid parts slipping, it can be used.
It's available in three sizes, including a 5g tube which is ideal if you're just building one bicycle, and is certainly more cost effective than buying this 100g tub. This will probably be sitting in my shed for years to come, but at least I'll never be short for any future bike builds. Application is made easy with a brush incorporated into the lid, so you needn't get your fingers dirty.
Essential if you're fitting carbon fibre components.
