At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

The E-Case Waterproof Mobile Phone Case might look like your protractor and compasses should be inside it, but it's actually a gem of a phone protector.

Looking like a pencil case made from transparent plastic, this pouch is designed to keep more than just your crayons safe. If you are going anywhere near water, including heavy rain, then you will want to protect expensive electronic gadgetry like your mobile phone.

This case is an effective solution to safeguard your gizmo. With a squeeze along the top of the case it is totally water tight and guaranteed against any liquid penetration for up to 30 minutes at a depth of a meter.

This may not sound a lot but the weight of your mobile phone is not enough for the bag to sink which means you have a lot longer than half an hour to fish it out of the drink before it goes kaput.

The transparent case is significantly larger than than a mobile phone. In fact there is enough extra space for a whole geometry set in there. The clear cover allows you to see the contents easily and to check if any water has got into it or for the invigilator to see its contents before an exam that is if you do happen to use this case under test conditions.

The touch screen of your phone still works perfectly inside this sealed bag. I actually find that it works slightly better and you can use it with gloves making it ideal for when it snows. Accessing the side buttons was a bit tricky but not impossible.

Once you get used to putting a bag against your head to make calls, the case doesn't make the sound muffled and actually improves clarity in windy, blustery conditions! It also didn't suffer from condensation while it was being tested which proves just how air tight it is.

Two loop holes in the case allow you to attach it to a lanyard or back pack or something for safekeeping. The extra size of the pouch didn't bother me and actually made it much easier to fish it out of the back pocket in my cycling top and the case fitted my better in the pocket too.

I know you can protect your £500 phone in a flimsy freezer bag that costs pence but then I am a person who would opt to wear a nice rain proof jacket rather than a bin bag with holes for my arms and head to stick out of.

Verdict

A pouch to make your expensive electronic gadgets waterproof with an easy to close seal.
