The jersey looks the part, fits well and is really pleasant to ride in. It's a shame the material seems a little prone to snags and imperfections.

At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

The RH+ Vertex Jersey looks good and keeps you cool and sweat-free. It's just a shame the fabric is a bit fragile.

It's finally the time of year when a short sleeve jersey is the reach-for item of clothing . You want a jersey that's going to fit well, wear well and keep you ventilated.

The Vertex jersey from Italian brand RH+ is on first appearance a stylish jersey. It's at the more expensive end of the spectrum at £70. For the money, you get what is termed as 'firedry' fabric complete with mesh panels on the back of the shoulders and under the arms.

The material is stretchy which allows it to move with the body and therefore prevents any uncomfortable pinching. To prevent the top riding up there is a waist gripper, which is unobtrusive but effective.

The zip is a generous three-quarter length. You never know when the sun will beat down in the UK, so having the option for extra ventilation is useful. Even when you are working hard the material keeps you at a regular temperature, wicking sweat away and not becoming saturated.

There are three rear pockets, all of a reasonable size and depth and on both sides there are small reflective trims though we worry that these might be too small to be clearly seen. There are more on the sleeves which would be easily visible.

The Vertex has a nice feel to the material given its smooth texture but it is easy to snag and bobble after only a few uses. When you pay a top price for a jersey you would expect a little more.

Aspects of the RH+ Vertex jersey work well and it looks stylish; a pity that the material lets it down.

Verdict

The jersey looks the part, fits well and is really pleasant to ride in. It's a shame the material seems a little prone to snags and imperfections.
