At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

The Ride Milano Evo 2 jersey, not the smoothest of names admittedly but it is a neat little jersey and one of several similarly priced tops in Ride's line-up. The jersey is priced at £40 so what do you get for your money? Quite a lot as it turns out.

You get silicone grippers on the sleeves to prevent them from sliding up and a few surprise features. For a start there's a security pocket on the rear with a zip. Nothing too out of the ordinary I hear you say, except this one has a waterproof lining.

Secondly, when you're out on a long ride, you've taken a much needed energy gel and you're looking to stash the empty wrapper, the Milano has a unique hidden side pocket lined with an easy wipe material for stowing your empty wrappers and to make sure they don't slip out there is a zip. Genius.

On the back, besides the security pocket, there are three others, which are large enough for stowing all your ride needs. The front zip is half length but not the easiest to use. The tab is fine but it doesn't slide particularly well. The mesh panels under the arms allow ventilation and prevent over heating.

The fabric has been treated with antibacterial properties to keep everything fresh. The fit is comfortable without being restrictive. It moves well when you're riding and generally feels fluid.

For the price this is a neat jersey, a few tweaks would make it a great addition to your wardrobe. The innovative side pocket for stashing rubbish is a real plus.
