At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

Keep your undercarriage smooth and saddle sore free with Qoleum's Qfriction Antifriction chamois cream.

Qoleum's Qfriction Antifriction O is a natural petroleum-jelly based ointment that reduces friction and rubbing where the chamois of your shorts meets your body.

It's unlike any chamois cream I've used before. It's an opaque colour and a consistency not unlike a certain product you apply to the chest when you've got a cold. It's quite thick but easy to apply to the chamois or directly to the skin. The calendula-and-tea-tree-oil scent isn't too offensive; the tea tree oil delivers the antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

I've been using it for a couple of months and have found that you only need a small dab, a little really does go a long way. On rides up to about 4 hours it just does its thing, I certainly experienced no sores during the time I was testing it. It's good in the rain too, or on very hot rides or races where you might sweat a lot, as it doesn't wash away easily.

Verdict

Does what it says on the tin, and is reasonably priced.

Provides a good protective barrier and wards against chafing impressively, especially on longer rides. Don't need that much either, a little goes a long way.

Rate the product for durability:

7/10

Unlike some chamois creams which are only good for the first hour of the ride, this stuff keeps working 4 hours into the ride.

£15 for the small tin seems quite pricey but it lasts ages, mainly because you only need a small dollop before a ride.
