Available in a choice of bold colour options, it's an unfussy looking jersey, with good clean lines, and just the right amount of femininity that should please most female riders. It features the now traditional three pockets at the rear, one of which has a smartphone sized zipped security pocket in it as well. A generous fabric flap protects the chin and neck from the zip at the top. There are also a couple of smallish reflective logos.
Despite its primary purpose as a cool rather than cold weather garment, the Missionshield did a great job as a cold weather layer, along with bib longs and a soft shell for seriously chilly rides. It's light and non-bulky enough to layer up, but still packs a decent punch of warmth when you need it.
For warmer days it'd work well with a windproof thermal layer underneath. The soft fuzzy backing to the fabric was pleasant next to skin and wicked moisture well, and kept body temperature pretty stable. The sleeves and torso were a good length for an average woman, but taller women might find it slightly less so. The size Medium I tested was roughly equivalent to a UK12. Even without a hem gripper, it stayed put when riding, even on the drops.
At this price it's competing with some well-respected clothing brands, and comes off a little at a disadvantage in that comparison. It's a well made and nicely designed jersey, with pleasant and hardwearing fabric, but the zip feels a little on the cheap side, not running as smoothly as it could and not at all easy to operate one-handed.
Good but up against some stiff competition and there's better value elsewhere.
