Giro Classic Racer socks
Giro's Classic Racer socks uses a Meryl Skinlife fabric and Coolmax construction that keeps your feet cool when the going gets hot, making them ideal for cyclo-cross racing during the winter and hot summer rides.
They have a 3in high cuff section which is perhaps on the short side of the current fashion - longer socks that nearly reach the calf muscles. There's really no right or wrong when it comes to sock length but these felt just right for me.
The Meryl Skinlife fabric 70% Polyamide and 30% Elastane, which gives them a enough stretch so that they fit comfortably over the feet. They're quite a snug fit as socks go with a second skin feeling - they feel almost invisible after a while.
Moisture is shifted away from the feet effectively. With the temperature dropping at the moment they're a little airy but I've been using them for weekend 'cross races and shorter rides (with oversocks) and they've been just fine. And I suffer from poor circulation. A good year-round sock.
Giro's website lists ten different colours and designs so there's something for everyone. Some are nice and discreet while others are a little louder; depends if you want to show your non-paying sponsor on your ankles or not.
Verdict
Simple, hard-working sock that is comfortable, durable and breathable. A touch pricey though
