Sugoi Hydrolite jacket

This lightweight (149g) jacket packs down small enough to fit into a jersey’s rear pocket and, when called into service, it keeps the rain out well.

It’s made from polyester with a polyurethane laminate and it’s pretty stretchy so the semi-fitted cut doesn’t feel restrictive when you stretch out on the bike. Sugoi reckon it’s an ‘intelligent’ fabric that activates when water touches the surface. Sounds like witchcraft to us. What we do know for sure is that rain doesn’t get through the material itself although a small amount can eventually worm its way in via the seams. It’s fairy breathable too with perforated vents under the arms adding to the air conditioning, and the textured inner surface feels fine next to your skin.

The full-length zip has its own little garage to stop it scratching your chin while the inside of the neck is faced with micro-fleece for a little more comfort. There’s quite a bit of reflective piping and a drawstring around the tail allows you to fine-tune the fit.

This isn’t the most hardcore jacket ever, but as something to take out ‘just in case’ it’s a real winner.

Available in both men’s and women’s versions.
