At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

The Cervo Rosso Corsa S3 is a close-fitting jersey for the warm weather.

Cervo Rosso certainly make some stylish clothing. Check it all out on their website. The range isn't vast but it covers pretty much everything for the performance-minded cyclist, and they have an urban range too.

The number of people who have commented on how cool the Corsa S3 looks is ridiculous. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but it's definitely a popular one. If blue isn't for you, it's available in both mint and white too (nice little rhyme, that).

The Corsa (I'm dropping the 'S3' from here on in) is made from various different fabrics. The front section and the rear pockets are a Lycra material that's very stretchy so you can get a close fit with plenty of comfort. The only downside is that it can feel clingy if you sweat so much that it gets soaked. Wearing a lightweight base layer underneath helps on that score and so, of course, does opening the front zip. It's full length so you can open it right up in hot conditions.

The rear is a lighter weight polyester that's highly breathable – it moves sweat away well and dries very, very quickly. It's super-stretchy across its width but it doesn't extend much lengthways so you can fill up the pockets without the back sagging down too far.

The sleeves are different again; they're a dimpled fabric called Sphere. They're very stretchy so you can get a close fit without any tightness whatsoever around the shoulders, and those dimples add a little extra ventilation.

The ends of the sleeves are wide elasticated bands like you'll find at the ends of the legs of many shorts these days, and lots of little silicone dots inside hold them comfortably in place against your skin. The waist is elasticated and the high neck fits closely too.

The Corsa comes in a slim, sporty cut. As I've said, everything is very stretchy so it'll fit a range of different builds without trouble – and Cervo Rosso have a good function on their website to make sure you get the right size.

The only thing I'm taking issue with is the 'it's your Ride' line at the rear. Surely it should be an upper case 'I' on the 'it's', and a lower case 'r' for 'ride'. Maybe they're being quirky.

Verdict

The Corsa S3 is part of Cervo Rosso's Performance Wear range – it's the biggest part of their collection. They give it a long write up. Here's the full version,

"The union of classic clean design with high performance technical fabrics is what makes the NEW CORSA S3 jersey our leading pedigree within the Cervo Rosso family.

"Engineered in Switzerland and made in Italy, the NEW CORSA S3 is a race cut and a tailored fit. The S3 is purposely designed to sit close to the skin with minimal fabric gathering in all areas of high movement. Maintaining our signature longer 'aero' sleeves and tight closures through the arms and collar, this jersey will deflect all potential wind drag!

"For the first time in the CR jersey line up, the CORSA S3 features the new aerodynamic dimple pattern fabric 'Sphere'. This Italian fabric is used in a number of pro peloton race jerseys to ensure greater stretch, compression and ventilation in extreme conditions. This race engineered fabric has been made available to Cervo Rosso for this limited collection.

"The CORSA S3 features 3 fabrics in total. Through our test program, this combination has been proven to further enhance the jerseys overall performance in warmer conditions. The front and rear panels maintain the use of the high performance Energy and Asteria fabrics, whilst the shoulders and arms introduce Lyca Sphere, a textured and high performance pro peloton fabric.

"Signature CR detailing include our rear tri-pocket configuration, full length zip and extra wide elasticated armbands with silicone droplets to ensure no creeping up of sleeves.

"At Cervo Rosso the challenge we place upon ourselves is to develop road wear of the highest quality, functionality and style possible. We intentionally strive to raise the bar for ourselves and every other brand in the market. The NEW CORSA S3 is a proud addition to the CR collection."
