At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

These shorts from DHB’s new high-end range justify their relatively weighty price tag with an impressive performance.

Their best feature is the seat pad from Cytec. It’s contoured, made from four different types of foam in different densities to keep the bulk down and the comfort high, and it’s stretchy enough in all directions to stay in contact with your skin as you move. It’s also soft and very breathable. We stayed perfectly happy in the saddle throughout our regular all-day ride so we have no complaints at all on that front.

The main panels are stretchy and breathable while fine-ribbed sections along the sides add… well, we’re not sure what to be honest, because we couldn’t notice any difference in performance there. The mesh bib section is very breathable too and the shoulders are wide enough to spread the load, while down at the bottom silicone rubber dots on the elasticated leg grippers hold them in place comfortably even when you work up a sweat.

Verdict

Excellent comfort and performance make these worthy of their price tag
