The original... and still the best? Well certainly one of the best. The Crud rear Raceguard has has a bit of an overhaul this year (review coming soon) but the Crud Catcher got only a few minor tweaks, testament to the fact that there's not a lot that's broke about it. Okay it's not as effective as a full guard but sometimes you don't want (or can't fit) one of those, and it's an excellent solution for many bikes. I've always had some kind of downtube guard on my urban bike, which has Pace RC31 forks and no option for a standard front mudguard; the Crud Catcher has replaced a cheaper all-plastic offering and there's no way I'm going back...

Okay it's not as good as a full mudguard (or even a raceguard) but it's a useful addition to any bike, really. It noticeably reduces road spray on your clothes, takes a second to fit and weighs next to nothing.

So far so good, my urban bike gets pretty rough treatment and the Crud Catcher is plenty tough enough to cope. It gets knocked out of position fairly frequently but a quick shove is all it needs...

Tell us how the product performed overall when used for its designed purpose
Very well. It's not as effective as a full guard but it's a real boon where proper mudguards won't fit, or aren't practical
Tell us what you particularly liked about the product
The rubber nose makes it easy to get the guard right up by the headtube, and the O-rings are an easy way to fit the Crud Catcher to the frame.
Tell us what you particularly disliked about the product
Not really a dislike but it'd be nice to get two sizes of O-ring, the ones supplied are a bit on the large side for some road frames
