At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

Fenwicks Pro Lubricant spray is a useful addition to the toolbox, good for blasting dirt from hard-to-reach mechanisms and cleaning out cable runs. The high pressure aerosol means it doesn't last long though, and it's not the most tenacious lubricant out there. It's better than WD40 though.

Fenwicks describe the spray as a "highly penetrating lubricant, which instantly repels water and leaves a protective coating. Professional Maintenance Spray is ideal for the complete drivetrain, excelling in the cleaning and lubricating of cables, gear mechanisms and shifters. It can also be used to dissolve sticker residue and road tar, and for freeing stuck or rusted components".

Certainly it's a good general purpose spray, superior to WD40 in terms of lubrication with similar water dispersal properties. The aerosol is very feisty, and it needs a careful touch otherwise a can won't last long. It's especially good for giving your cable inners a good clean, or getting some lubrication into your mechs and shifters. It's not so much use on your chain unless you follow up with a thicker lube, but that's to be expected of an aerosol spray. It's also handy for non-bike applications around the house and garden and a useful can to have in the shed.

Verdict

Useful thin lube in a powerful spray that's a good addition to the potion shelf.
