At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

This drink is designed to recharge your muscles both during and after exercise, giving you 167 calories of energy in a 500ml mix (a standard water bottle), including nearly 30g of carbs. You also get 6g of protein, so it’s a 5:1 carbs: protein mix, give or take. That’s enough stats.

What makes the Multipower drink different from most is that it contains PeptoPro. Huh? Here’s the science bit… PeptoPro is a pre-digested milk protein. Rather than being packed with fully formed proteins, it contains peptides, built from amino acids, that your body links together to form proteins – there’s no need to break them down first, saving time and energy. Geddit? That all seems logical

Pre-digested proteins usually taste bitter, but this doesn’t – perhaps not too surprising because there is a lot of sucrose in here. You might have your own opinion, of course, but we found the orange flavour really palatable. It’s also pretty light on your stomach – it’s easy to gulp down like a normal energy drink. We like it a lot and have had good results over the past couple of weeks – energy levels have been high and we’ve had no worries with recovery between rides.

You get 17 servings per tub, which works out at under 80p a go if you get it at the £13.50 discount price.
