Sugoi RS Zero bib tights
These are good mid-weight longs. The main fabric offers much more warmth than standard Lycra and, although it isn’t as insulating as a deep Thermo-roubaix, windproof knee panels keep the cold air out a treat without noticeably affecting breathability. There’s more windproofing – provided by a polyurethane laminate – at the front of the torso although, under a jersey or jacket, it’s less useful there. You might want more warmth for the really bitter days, but for most off-season conditions these will do the job.
Nearly all the seams are flat stitched to boost comfort and there are no seams at all behind the knees to rub you raw as you pedal – which is a massive plus. The bib section provides good coverage of your lower back while broad shoulder straps hold it in place comfortably and a front zip makes pit-stops less of an ordeal. Down below, wide foot straps ensure you don’t get draughty ankles and a small amount of reflective trim helps get you seen in car headlights.
Sugoi’s FormulaFX seatpad is a winner too. It’s contoured to provide the cushioning exactly where you need it without adding too much bulk and it’s impressively breathable too.
Verdict
