At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

Ryder's Sprint R347 glasses are big brothers to the standard Ryder R350 Sprint and as with them the accent is very much on performance rather than fashion, looks are understated, pleasingly so some might say, rather than head-turningly fashionable. What we have here is a very reasonably priced pair of performance glasses.

As with the R350s the anti-mist slots work preventing misting under helmet, cotton cap or winter wool. The polycarbonate construction is strong, light and simple with clean lines and finish. Fit was similarly snug and comfortable, even on my wide head.

The big difference from the standard R350 model with its three interchangeable lenses is that the R347 does away with multi-lense faffing by having one photo chromic lense (you probably guessed that from the name) which reacts well in all conditions. So you don't need a set of three interchangeable lenses to cope with different lighting conditions you only need one.

That's the theory anyway. And in practice? You don't need the three interchangeable lenses… Lense response is quick to change and revert back, which is great in the sort of changeable weather Britain does so well. The lense works well with dappled light too, so riding along tree-lined avenues come summer shouldn't be a problem.
