At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

This DHB Goldline short sleeve jersey is DHB's highest spec offering. It's a perfect match with the Goldline bib shorts, which we've reviewed separately. The jersey is lightweight (133g), very stretchy and extremely breathable. They are jolly nice to wear on sunny days; and at £62.99 on Wiggle at the moment, they don't cost the earth either.

This jersey is made from five different Italian fabrics, with bonded seams at the back. Their anti-bacterial finish keeps things fresh for longer, too.

The materials are pretty much all mesh with different sized holes. The mesh with the biggest holes is on the back under the armpits, with smaller-holed mesh around the sides and front, and for the pockets. A really fine mesh is used on the shoulders and arms. These all work together to keep sweat away from your skin, be extremely stretchy and generally be lovely and comfortable.

Those three pockets on the back are nice and deep and will easily carry everything you need for a few hours in the sunshine. There's a little zipped pocket on the right hand deep pocket for keys and valuables, and there's a little hole at the top of it for your earphones, if that's how you roll.

Thanks to all that stretch, the fit is fantastic. The hem at the arms uses the same seamless mesh fabric as the hem at the legs of the Goldline bib shorts to keep things in place and stop chafing. There's a rubber gripper inside the hem around the waist to stop the jersey riding up. The full length zip runs nice and smooth and has a zip garage at the chin.

Not that the zip is likely to be all the way up very often. Like the Goldline shorts, this jersey is designed to be used in hot weather. Thanks to all that mesh, breeze just blows through. When it's hot, this is welcome and keeps you cool. When it's not, you don't get much protection from the elements.

The styling is understated black, with red detailing on the zip. There's a couple of matt black dhb logos on the chest and on a rear pocket, and there's the usual orange DHB tab as well to keep you honest. There's a bit of reflective detailing on the side of the rear pockets too.

We tested a medium, which comes up like a medium in most non-Italian brands. I'm 5ft 10in (178cm) and weigh (I like to think) just under 80kg. It fits me perfectly.

I like this jersey. It and the Goldline shorts are my new fave summer cycling threads.

Verdict

Tell us what the product is for, and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it?

From dhb's highest spec range, the Goldline Short Sleeve Jersey offers regular and professional cyclists an extremely lightweight and breathable technical training top for those warm summer rides.

Specialised Fabric Technology

The Goldline Jersey consists of an ultra lightweight construction made up from five premium Italian fabrics.

Ventilating mesh panels have been strategically placed along the center back panel and underarms to increase breathability where you need it most. Closely fitting next to the skin for a more aerodynamic fit, the seams have been bonded at the back to reduce bulk and eliminate friction, with seamless mesh arm cuffs offering added anti-chaffing qualities.

It has an anti-bacterial finish to prevent bacteria from building up against the skin and wicking properties to then draw the excess moisture away from the body, keeping you drier and more comfortable whilst riding.

Essential Features

For storing rider essentials, three vertical drop, laser cut pockets have been added at the lower rear of the top. An additional secure pocket for storing valuables is featured on the outside of the third pocket, with a concealed, laser cut earphone port inbuilt into the design.

A high quality, full length YKK zip offers optional ventilation and easy entry/exit, with a chin guard for extra comfort whilst in the road cycling position. A full hem silicone gripper ensures the Goldline Jersey stays in place for a hassle free ride.

Luxury Finishes

The Goldline Jersey features subtle signature dhb styling and is finished with embossed dhb binding and a matte black printed motive at the rear.

The Goldline collection has been designed by cyclists for cyclists and is an ideal choice for those who want a stylish, performing lightweight jersey.
