At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

The BTwin Aerofit 900 jersey is the companion upper half to B'Twin's excellent value Aerofit 900 bib shorts. I tested the shorts recently, so it was only right that I put the matching jersey through its paces too, and it lives up to the shorts' high standard.

The Aerofit 900 is claimed by Decathlon to be worn by the professional FDJ.FR team, so you're expecting a decent level of performance right off the bat. Decathlon don't go down the fancy acronym/science route and instead just list out performance measures they've focused on. All of these are listed in the tech section below, but there are a couple that I'm a particular fan of.

The pockets are varied and pretty darn good. You get your three standard cargo pockets, then a sealed, waterproof zipped pocket and finally a rubbish pocket for your empty gel wrappers and the like. Big fan of that.

The fit is also pretty impressive, especially when you remember the price. Recently I've been testing a wide range of short sleeve jerseys that cost more than double the B'Twin. The real indicator of how good the fit is, is that I can't pick out any major disadvantages of the B'Twin over the far more expensive jerseys I've been wearing alongside it. The arms extend a good length down my biceps and are tight even on my skinny arms, which is not a particularly common occurrence. The fit around my core and over my shoulders is also plenty tight, so there's minimal-to-zero flapping when out on the bike. Aerofit is certainly no misnomer here.

I was a big fan of how this jersey felt, looked and performed. As with the Aerofit 900 shorts, I found that while I wasn't blown away by any single feature, the whole package being offered by B'Twin is cracking value. It's well worth a look if you are in the market for some performance training/racing gear for a very reasonable price.

Verdict

Great value for money, solid performing lightweight jersey at a price that's hard to beat
