Well, perhaps actually not the lycra... if I could find a way to cycle in normal clothes without the downsides, I would.

Lycra's god-awful stuff; hate the look, hate the wearers. In the summer, I tend to cycle in a suit jacket and denim jeans from Marks. I don't understand why people wear Lycra; it's of very little advantage usually. I cycle because I need to, plus it's extremely flexible unlike public transport. It's great fun, too -- except when it's -2º like it was this morning; though that is what merino's for.
