Specialized launched its AWOL adventure bike earlier this month, just as two riders who had helped develop it, Recep Yeşil and Erik Nohlin, were taking part in the Quick Energy TransContinental Race – and both were followed by a film crew for a feature length documentary to be released later this year.
Here’s the trailer for what the documentary’s makers, Leipzig-based e r t z u i ° Film, describe as “a wild and inspirational journey in so many unexpected ways” as they followed the riders on their 3,100 kilometre journey from London to Istanbul, crossing 14 national borders on the way.
Born in Scotland, Simon moved to London aged seven and now lives in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with his miniature schnauzer, Elodie. He fell in love with cycling one Saturday morning in 1994 while living in Italy when Milan-San Remo went past his front door. A daily cycle commuter in London back before riding to work started to boom, he's been news editor at road.cc since 2009. Handily for work, he speaks French and Italian. He doesn't get to ride his Colnago as often as he'd like, and freely admits he's much more adept at cooking than fettling with bikes.
