Sneak peek: Boardman superlight sportive frame + video

Catch a glimpse of the all-day bike that's in development

Boardman Bikes have released a teaser video of what they’re calling their ‘all-new, all-day superlight sportive frame platform’ that’s currently in development.

Boardman say that the bike is designed to be lightweight and fast and that it’s intended for all-day rides. We have no idea how light, though, because it’s still in development and Boardman aren’t releasing any details. We can tell you that the new bike is carbon, but that's about yer lot.

"This is an exciting development from our R&D department,” said Chris Boardman, co founder and R&D Director at Boardman Bikes. “Two years in development and testing, the fine tuned result is designed to cater for the rider who spends a lot of time in the saddle - either training, racing or purely for the love of cycling."

The video shows the Boardman team riding prototypes during a five-day test session in Kitzbühel, Austria. The bikes were being used to test different carbon lay-ups and a variety of builds to check frame characteristics.

The B56 in the video’s title and along the top tube of the bikes refers to part of Boardman Bikes’ R&D department, headed by Chris Boardman; it’s not the name of the new frame. All new Boardman bikes carry the B56 ID through their development period.

More details as soon as we get them.

Respected name with great products.
If its priced right AND comes as a frameset option, Boardman will sell thousands.

Looks very similar to my 9.8SLR - though tubing is less angular. Looks like a nice bike, though I'd like to see CB do a Ti bike - now that would get my bucks 3

[[[[ Funny stuff, music, in a bike-promo-vid.... it must annoy as many folks as it pleases. Is that supposed to be music to cycle to? I'd prefer the clicking of gears, the hum of tyres on tarmac, the sound of the wind, the occasional squeal of brake-blocks on rims....ah well, that ain't gonna happen. Is it?

Looks like it will possibly be similar to a Cervelo R5, particularly at the rear, but somewhat cheaper I bet.

As per the comments above; very good teaser vid.

So is this the new top secret bike that Sky will ride after they dump Pinarello?

Well, well....if you want to see how the impact of Rapha's fundamental brand styling is spreading just see that vid. Beautifully shot, and just like the Rapha Continental videos....not a complaint from me, I think the video is great. I just think we should enthusiastically acknowledge how one British brand is helping make our sport more appealing.....and no, I don't work for/own shares in Rapha etc...
