Jens Voigt signs for another year + video

...And here's the personalised Trek Madone he'll be racing on

The legend that is Jens Voigt has signed up for Trek’s new WorldTour cycling project next year, and here's the bike he’ll be racing on. The German rider, currently on Radioshack-Leopard, will turn 42 years old next month but has showed no sign that he's losing his desire to dish out pain.

"I'm glad Trek and I got to an agreement for 2014,” said Jens. “It's been three crazy years for me on Trek, with a lot of highlights, and I'm happy that we can go on for another year.

"Looking at the young kids: I see the future. They are ready to spread their wings. But maybe I can close one more gap for them, or teach them something from my years of experience. I feel I still have some gas left in the tank, so I can't wait for what's coming."

Trek have already signed up other high-profile riders, including Fabian Cancellara and the Schleck brothers.

Jens has been posting pics of his new Trek Madone on his Facebook page for the past few days.

As you can see, the finish features German flag stripes and “Shut up legs” emblazoned along the down tube, Jens’ most famous quote; you might even call it his catchphrase.

The dove on the head tube is an allusion to the fact that Jens won the Peace Race in 1994 – shortly after some of the youngest riders in the pro peloton were born. That’s referenced on one of the seatstays too.

The other seatsay is decorated with World Champion rainbow stripes because Jens topped the UCI’s Challenge Mondial Amateurs rankings in the same year.

The inside edge of one of the chainstays features the jerseys of the other teams Jens has raced for over the years: ZVVZ-Giant-Australian Institute of Sport, Crédit Agricole, Team CSC, Saxo Bank, Leopard Trek and Radioshack-Leopard. It's a neat touch from Trek, particularly as those jerseys feature titchy-tiny logos from rival bike brands.

Jens’ race achievements are listed on the top tube along with the names of his family: his wife and six children. Maybe the size of his family is one reason why he has extended his race career for so long. Jens has been quoted in the past as saying, "In the hierarchy of the family, I’m just above the dog. But I like it that way."

The dog isn’t listed, though.

One of the other features we can’t show you here, this being a family-friendly website and all. You’ll have to go to Jens’ Facebook page to check it out.

The video might be a bit over the top but you can't deny that Jens has been one of the most aggressive, most entertaining and most respected riders out there over many years.

The bike is equipped with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and Bontrager Aeolus 5 wheels.

The information we're getting indicates that Jens will retire from pro racing at the end of the 2014 race season. That seems more than reasonable, but we still wouldn't put a great deal of money on it.

Really nice design and a nice touch for what must be his last year.

When there's a bottle cage fitted it reads 'Shut Up Leg' though 4
