Mountain bike manufacturer Pivot Cycles have launched the Vault, a carbon fibre cyclo-cross bike that is compatible with disc brakes and cantilevers.
The frame features a ‘removeable brake post system’ so if you choose to build it with disc brakes, you’re not left with ugly canti mounts on the fork and seat stays. The rear dropout spacing can also be converted between 130 and 135mm spacing.
The brake brake cable or hose, as with the gear cables, is routed internally to keep them out of the mud and maintain the clean lines of the bike. It’s compatible with electronic and mechanical groupsets too.
Constructed from carbon fibre, the frame has a 1.5in tapered head tube and their own fork with an oversized crown, which should ensure it’s very stiff up front for sharp handling. There’s a BB386EVO PressFit bottom bracket.
Looks good don’t you think? But that’s as much as we know about it currently. It’s being launched this week in the US so we’ll have more details on the technical and pricing side of things soon.
