Koga launch new WorldTraveller29

Award-winning trekking bike available in new limited-run version

Koga are launching a new version of their WorldTraveller29 trekking bike in their 2014 range. It will be available in a limited run from August.

The WorldTraveller29, designed for long rides in tough conditions, was first introduced a couple of years ago with mountain bike-inspired qualities and 29in wheels. It won a Red Dot design award and a Eurobike Gold Award.

The new version comes in a grey metallic finish with a design of black continents and silver animal motifs. The blue accent colour is carried through to the inner plates of the KMC 10-speed chain. That chain has a Diamond Like Coating to reduce friction.

The smooth-welded frame is fully hand built from triple hardened/triple butted 6069 tubing. The headset is integrated and the derailleur hanger is replaceable.

The WorldTraveller29 comes with Shimano’s versatil SLX groupset – a triple chainset matched up with a 10-speed cassette rather than a 9-speed cassette as previously used on the WorldTraveller29 – with a Shadow rear derailleur.

The rear wheel comes with a Shimano Deore XT freehub and it’s built with 40 spokes for the extra strength needed when carrying heavy luggage. Magura HS11 hydraulic rim brakes provide the stopping power.

The new version of the WorldTraveller29 will cost £1,899. For more info go to www.koga.com.

Have used HS33's for almost 15 years now, and the only time they have ever needed service, is to shorten the hose when initially fitting; one of the most reliable setups out there, although the older ones are nicer than the current version.

Magura HS brakes are the most reliable brakes you can buy! the only way youd have any problem is if you smashed a lever or had a hose cut by someone. Both situations would result in a cable brake being useless also.

Don't think I'd fancy my chances of getting hydraulic rim brakes fixed if I broke down in the back of beyond.

And anyway, aren't tourers supposed to be made of steel?

Grump over, actually looks like a nice piece of kit, am sure you could have many thousands of happy miles in the saddle.
