Sir Chris Hoy launches Summer Cycling Challenge + WIN

Aimed at families who want to get the miles in over eight weeks

Sir Chris Hoy is to launch a Summer Cycling Challenge on July 1, aimed at families looking for something cheap, fun and inspiring to do over the summer holidays.

By registering online and logging their miles, participants can work towards goals of 30, 65 and 100km.

There are messages of encouragement from the man himself, plus families who clock up the full mileage are eligible for a prize draw to win loads of cycling goodies, including two adult Hoy Shizuoka bikes, and signed gear too.

We wrote about the Shizuoka recently - and it looks a nice piece of kit.

Sir Chris said: “The Highland Spring Summer Cycling Challenge gives families the perfect opportunity to do something free, fun and healthy this summer.

"There are great cycle paths throughout the UK, and the Challenge is a fantastic way to get out and explore your local area – parts that you probably don’t get to see from a car or a bus.”

What stops a cyclist signing up and doing this on a regular training ride? I'm interested to see how they record the distances?
