Ride with Sir Chris Hoy at Bath's new road circuit

Open-to-all event on Wednesday 19 June - come ride with a true legend of cycling

When we covered the launch of the initial range of HOY bikes last week we also outlined the launch schedule which included, tantalisingly, an open-to-all ride near Bath on Weds 19 June. We now have details of the ride: it's at the newly-opened Odd Down cycle circuit on the South side of Bath, and Sir Chris will be there from 10am to 11.30am.

You'll be able to have a look at Chris's new range of bikes – developed in association with Evans Cycles – in the flesh, and the six-time Olympian will be leading a public ride around the circuit, which anyone is welcome to join. There's various other opportunities to ride with Sir Chris throughout the HOY bikes launch tour (details of which can be found here) but the rest are limited numbers and by application only; this one you can just turn up and ride. We're very much looking forward to welcoming Sir Chris to our home turf (both Dave and Tony live within a mile of the new circuit) and it'll be a great opportunity for us to get a few miles in on the new bikes as well. And a chat with the big man, too, if we sharpen our elbows enough to make it through the throng.

Councillor David Dixon, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said of the event, “We’re absolutely honoured to welcome Sir Chris Hoy to the Odd Down Cycle Circuit and we’re sure that lots of people will want to come and say hello, and even enjoy a ride with one of our greatest ever Olympians. Bath & North East Somerset Council hopes that this spectacular opportunity will inspire people of all ages to get on their bikes and enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.”

If you're travelling from further away than biking distance be sure to check www.bathnes.gov.uk/cyclecircuit for parking arrangements - there's limited parking at the circuit itself.

Dave is a founding father of road.cc, having previously worked on Cycling Plus and What Mountain Bike magazines back in the day. He also writes about e-bikes for our sister publication ebiketips. He's won three mountain bike bog snorkelling World Championships, and races at the back of the third cats.

If traveling from further than biking distanced, there's a train station isn't there? Any bike hire nearby?
