CKT release 790g frameset… called the 799
French carbon fibre specialist release new 799, their lightest frame to date
The distinctly un-French sounding CKT (which stands for Carbon Knowledge Team) bicycle company has been around for 12 years and, as the their name suggests, they focus solely on carbon fibre frames. This is their latest, the new 799 which has a frame weight of just 790g, putting it it some illustrious company.
CKT is based just down the coast from Marseille and the 799 is the culmination of their 12 years of experience in designing carbon-fibre frames. It’s their lightest to date. It’s constructed from high modulus Toho Torayca 46 and 60 Ton fibre using their exclusive moulds. Full cable and Di2/EPS routing keeps the lines clean with Teflon sleeves making cable replacement easier.
A tapered head tube accepts a full carbon fork (weight 370g) and the large down tube tapers into a slender tube where it meets the bottom bracket. The seat tube has been curved around the rear wheel for a small nod to aerodynamics, while the chainstays are regulation oversized profile in comparison to the slender seat stays.
It’s available with a regular seatpost or an integrated design. Four sizes are available with a sloping geometry. A medium measures up with a 54cm effective top tube, 14cm head tube and 72/74 degree head/seat angles. That all sounds rather racy to us, giving some indication of where the bike is clearly pitched.
The 799 costs €2490, and you get find out more at www.ckt-carbon.com
