Eastnor Castle Deer Park
Mountain Mayhem has become an institution in the UK MTB calendar, and now road riders can join in the fun! This year's Mountain Mayhem event will play host to a road sportive sponsored by Verenti bikes.
The sportive ride takes places on Sunday 20 June and riders get a choice of either 100Km or 50Km routes. Sportive riders will also get their own dedicated campsite so you can be part of the festival atmosphere without being disturbed by the race activity through the night. But you'll still get full access to the event village – the festival itself is a massive affair attracting thousands of participants every year.

Sportive riders will get full access to the event village for the whole weekend
A great ride through stunning scenery
Organiser Pat Adams has promised us there will be some challenging climbs, but the emphasis is on giving everyone taking part a great day and the chance to sample the beauty of the Herefordshire countryside and the Malvern hills. If you want a ride that's more along the lines of a classic French sportive – or you're looking to try a sportive for the first time – then this could be the one for you. And if you're feeling particularly hardcore you could even enter both the 24 hour mountain bike race as part of a team too!

The beautiful Malvern hills will be the backdrop for your ride...
Make a weekend of it
Road riders doing the sportive will be able to sample all of the festival's attractions and the atmosphere in the main arena, where manufacturers display their latest bikes. There's lots of food and refreshment stalls plus opportunities for a quick massage, to buy yourself some bike bits, or enjoy the entertainment on offer.
Bring the family too – that's what many mountain bikers do – it's a great opportunity for a weekend away in a great location with excellent camping facilities there's plenty to do for everyone including the kids and all the activities are free too.
See the new Verenti bikes
You'll also get the opportunity to see the new range of sportive bikes from Verenti. Available from early March, the bikes kick off with the £850 Kilmeston, built around an Alloy frame and Carbon fork. The £1200 Carbon/Alu framed Millook is next inline, followed by the Carbon-lugged Rhigos, available in builds from £1200 to £2900. Designed bottom up for sportive performance, the bikes are set to take the UK sportive scene by storm.

I'll be doing it
Already signed up.
I was planning on it being my first attempt at a sportive... but I've just seen the post on the Cotswold Classic. Seeing as I'll probably be visiting the old dears in Gloucester for Easter I guess I might as well enter that too!
Just need to get back into shape now - after getting hit by a car last year I've been off the bike for a while (bike got written off, still waiting for driver's insurance to cough up 9 months later). I've not put on too much weight, but lost a lot of leg muscle - those hills are going to be interesting, lol.

as soon as we confirm the routes we'll post them on here, and we'll go out and do a recce too. there's plenty of hills to choose from but the routes won't be choosing them *all*, the idea is to have a good day out with a few testing climbs in there. There's plenty of people vying to be the hardest sportive, we'd rather this one was the funnest

Myself and five others have signed up. The date is ideal, as we normally ride the 'Circuit of the Cotswolds' on that day but it's been cancelled. This one could turn out to be the new favourite. If the weathers good, the families might also join us, which would make a change!

We'll be posting lots more information on the event soon. there'll be a recce of the route and we'll be taking the video camera along so we can show you exactly what to expect!
The route isn't 100% finalised yet, and nor are some of the other bits and bobs that are tied up with Mountain Mayhem. we need to dot the i's and cross the t's - when that's done you'll (all) be the first to know...
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
