Video interview: Richie Porte on his successful March, SRMs, and riding with Chris Froome

Tasmanian rider chats with Daniel Lloyd and sets record straight on Froome's attack in Criterium International last Sunday...

It's been some month for Richie Porte. Winner of Paris-Nice at the start of March, he was second overall to team mate Chris Froome in last weekend's Criterium International on Corsica. Porte had actually gone into the second day leading the GC, and Froome's attack on the Col de l'Ospedale to win the stage and the overall had some wondering once again whether there was a rift in the Sky camp. Daniel Lloyd caught up with Porte for a chat in which the Tasmanian, by coincidence just back from a cafe ride with fellow Monaco resident Froome, puts the record straight.

The 28-year-old also talks about his plans for the rest of the season - the Tour de Romandie, he reveals, is a big personal goal - as well as answering the criticism levelled at Sky from some quarters about what is perceived as their over reliance on playing the numbers game by riding to the power output shown on their SRM monitors. It's not often you'll see a cuddly toy take pride of place among a top athlete's trophies - the lion in the background is most likely one of those Porte would have bagged at Paris-Nice courtesy of race sponsor LCL

My climbing style is just like Foome's: I look scrappy and in trouble. Unfortunately unlike Froome it's because I am in trouble...

Hate the fat back funk music the background. I am sounding like an old git when I say this but why can't anyone have the courage to show footage without any crappy muzac on it for once?
