Madison Genesis rider Ian Bibby gets his stolen bike back

Police recover stolen Genesis Volare following tip-off - just in time before it was sold on to be broken up

Ian Bibby reunited with his bike (source Twitter)

Ian Bibby has been reunited with this Genesis Volare bike, stolen outside a café in Lancaster last week while the Madison Genesis rider was inside.

The bike, worth £7,000 and one of only ten in the world, was recovered after a tip-off from an address in Lancashire, apparently as it was about to be sold on for £2,500.

Police believe the prospective purchaser planned to break the bike up and sell the parts on eBay.

Bibby has raised his arms in victory a good few times in his career, but possibly never with as much relief – nor, indeed, as much underwear showing – as in the above picture he tweeted earlier this afternoon.

“My little Genesis bike has had a right adventure this weekend,” he said. “But he's back with his dad! Thanks for all the help!”

I hope the thief gets a hefty sentence now that bikes been recovered and that Ian learns from his mistakes.

1. Don't leave you bike unattended at all
2. Tighten your belt before taking photos like above Devil

Think the quite here is:

Bibby keeps his pants up high, after getting truly caught with them down.

From now on, when I see a kid with their arse hanging out of their jeans, I'm calling the look 'Bibbyshorts'...

It is a fashion that I gaurantee you will look back on in 10 years and think "what an absolute tw@t I looked!".
At least you'll have something to laugh at.
Great advertising coup by Madison, they'll surely not start locking up their bikes now.
Very difficult for thieves to shift something like this, as this proves.

He's mixing his genres a bit - skinny jeans AND pants out is trying to be hipster and gansta. Is that a 'hipsta'?

I left £7000 on the street whilst I nipped into a cafe the other day ....

Perhaps we need to be more careful with our possessions.

If only the police put quite so much effort into tracking down bikes normally.

He didnt pay for it, I would hazard a guess he would have been given another for free and there would likely have been very 'emotional' attachment to it.

More of an issue for average Joe the commuter who has his bike stolen who then has to save an pay for another one as the police wont be putting any effort into recovery of that.

slightly grinchy I know

themartincox - I know where you're coming from though I suspect he did feel bad about it. My favorite is Stoke on Trent's favorite billionaire, Mr "mobile phones" Caudwell. He had his Trek Madonne nicked a few years back and Trek gave him a replacement. Bit different than the tug of war I have had with insurers to get my compo for the two bikes I've had nicked over the years.

Still - "much will have more" as the aphorism goes (is that an aphorism)? Devil Crying Big Grin
