With little over a month to go until the Cycle Show 2009 at London’s Earl’s Court, the event’s organisers have confirmed the names of some of the celebrities that will be attending the event, including a clutch of Olympic and World Champions and an appearance by one of cycling’s all-time greats.
Beijing gold medallists Victoria Pendleton, Nicole Cooke and Jamie Staff will be joined at the event by Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton, who between them have won multiple 4-cross and downhill titles at national and world level, and current British 4-cross champion, Scott Beaumont.
The biggest name announced to date, however, belongs to an earlier generation – the great Eddy Merckx, winner of 11 Grand Tours, 3 World Championship Road Races and a host of classics including Milan-San Remo a record seven times.
The Cycle Show 2009 takes place from 9-11 October and is open from 10am-6pm on the Friday and Saturday, and from 10am-5pm on the Sunday.
Last year’s show attracted more than 20,000 visitors, and 2009’s event is set to be the biggest yet, with a massive variety of exhibitors, as well as test tracks, a seated arena, BMX street course, a showcase arena and a Cycling Store.
