Bradley Wiggins: The Musical?

Claims the show might be the next to hit the West End

We're getting intel at road.cc that there's about to be a new show on the West End: Bradley Wiggins the musical.

Well, maybe. This rumour might go the same way as those of the Wiggo/ Paul Weller duet, swiftly nixed by a tweet from Weller's people, which read "Please note that there is no truth whatsoever in today's reports that Paul is recording a song with Bradley Wiggins."

Ok, that's that out of the question then.

But the Daily Star reckons the musical will go ahead; they write: "The show will feature dozens of male and female performers, in skin-tight Lycra and Wiggo’s trademark fuzzy sideburns, whizzing round the track on bikes."

Nice.

They go on to give a suspicious level of detail into the songs: "The name of the production [Yellow Jersey], which will include 1978 hit Queen song Bicycle Race with its lyrics “I want to ride my bicycle”, relates to the famous shirt he donned while leading the gruelling Tour de France.

Other tunes being lined up include Chain Reaction by Diana Ross, 68, Spandau Ballet’s Gold and Spinning The Wheel by George Michael, 49.

Music-loving mod Wiggo, whose heroes include The Modfather Paul Weller, 54, celebrated his Sports Personality win by playing guitar.

Award-winning Brit theatre legend David King, 56, is the brains behind the bid to bring cycling to the stage."

According to the Star, David King, the brains behind the Michael Jackson tribute Man In The Mirror, Dancing Queen and Spirit Of The Dance, is creating this musical.

He told the paper: “Bradley’s performances have captivated the nation and I believe a musical about his life will be gripping,” he said.

“I felt compelled to take his story from the road to the stage after watching him triumph in the Olympics, Tour de France and BBC Sports Personality.

“Staging the show around a velodrome provides the perfect setting. It will be as fast-paced as Wiggo on the home straight. He has been known to pick up a guitar in the past, so if he wishes to make a cameo appearance, he is more than welcome.”

I suspect our Brad would be on his bike for this one - and keep pedaling as far away as possible

It sounds like Wiggo wouldn't be any more impressed by the music than me. I expect if he wanted someone to make a musical of his trials and tribulations, he'd want Paul Weller to be the songsmith.

Since the story came from the Daily Star, can it be assumed to be utter rubbish?

I can't wait to find out how the lyricists are going to turn Bradley's infamous C-word rant into a song and dance number. Actually, I could wait, a long, long time.
