Fizik to launch handlebars and stems

...and AG2R will be using them this season ahead of their release

Fizik have announced that AG2R-La Mondiale will be using their brand new range of handlebars and stems in 2013. The pro team will be testing the new cockpit components and providing feedback before the components go on sale.

Throughout the season, the team riders will test the different stems and handlebar shapes in a multitude of sizes and material combinations, but full details of the product range will not be announced until later in the year. All we know is what you can see in the pictures: one of the bars is called the Cyrano R3. AG2R-La Mondiale will also be using Fizik’s saddles, handlebar tape and seatposts. The Italian brand is also well known for its range of shoes.

“As we have traditionally done with saddle development, the team will act as our live test lab,” said Gabriele Benedetti, Fizik’s Global Sport Marketing Manager. “No other testing can simulate the wear on products that occurs at this level in professional training and racing."

“Fizik is the most popular brand of saddle amongst the World Tour peloton,” said AG2R-La Mondiale Manager Vincent Lavenu.  “The stems and handlebars are a new adventure for both of us, though. After the first kilometres on the new equipment, all the riders were very happy. We have had daily contact with Fizik to provide them with further feedback and development suggestions, so I’m confident that we will have a great season together.”

We'll keep our eyes out for the new components in the early season races and give you more details as we get them.
