Pay homage to Fausto Coppi at the Hammersmith Cyclists' Film Show 2013

Feature film about Il Campionissimo with supporting vintage footage

Fausto Coppi is to be celebrated at a set of film screenings at the Hammersmith Cyclists' Film Show 2013.

Coppi, twice winner of the Tour de France in 1949 and 1952, rode to victory in all the grand Tours, one day races, world championships and record attempts. He was known as Il Campionissimo, or champion of champions.

His trademark move was to ride massive time gaps over his opponents – “the man alone” was the greatest of cycle racing’s escape artists.

The Hammersmith Cyclists' Film Show 2013 will be showing the 1996 feature film Coppi – An Italian Story, at 1.30 pm on Sunday January 27th 2013, at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith.

The supporting programme includes films of the UK racing scene from 40 years ago, and extracts from the film biography of Beryl Burton.

Tickets cost  £8.50 (£7.50 concs) and the event is expected to sell out, so get your tickets early.

For more information and to book tickets, visit Riverside Studios.

Also attending will be Keith Butler and Bryan Wiltcher, who rode at the legendary Herne Hill Coppi meeting in 1959, as well as Keith Robbins, who organised the meetings Coppi raced in at herne Hill in 1958 and 1959.

Do book early as we tend to sell out,
