UK's first indoor criterium set for London Bike Show + video

Indoor racing planned for ExCeL in January

The UK's first indoor criterium, a version of the IG London Nocturne, will take place at The London Bike Show, which runs 17-20 January 2013 at London's ExCeL.

Races will take place on each day of the show. As well as elite men’s and women’s races, there will be several support races including events for category 2, 3 and 4 riders, a junior race, plus races for both penny farthings and folding bikes.

Registration for the races is open until 9 January. That might seem like a while off but there’s the small matter of Christmas between now and then. And New Year. So head along to The London Bike Show’s website and enter now before you forget.

Tickets are on sale now for The London Bike Show. They’re £16 for adults and £13 for students and seniors (if you race, entry to the show is included). Tickets for children under 16 are free (up to a maximum of four per paying adult).

I think they are using the massive covered car park out for a chunk of the course - anyway have you seen the size of that place? For the last couple of years they've turned one hall in to what's effecively a vast swimming pool.

Crikey. They must be really struggling for exhibitors for all the shows, if the Boat, Bike, Outdoors and Active Travel shows are taking up so little space that there's enough space left over for a Crit course- the boat show has two pools and the Outdoor show has a climbing wall.

Oh, and there appears to be a "Luxury Brands Show" that's attached itself to the other four.

I remember the days (only about five or six years ago) when the Boat Show filled the two main halls, without a pool.

The London Boat Show is the same size as it was last year but it is all down one side of ExCeL, rather than split across both sides.

This has allowed for growth in The London Bike Show and the introduction of the IG Nocturne circuit, which is going to be amazing. The cicuit will sit inside the show halls alongside the bike show. The Outdoors Show and The Active Travel Show's are also larger than they were last year...

Hope you make it down to the shows!
