Roux Bicycles launch with nine models

Distributor 2x2 Worldwide adds Roux Bicycles to their portfolio. Here's a look at the range...

Roux Bicycles is a new British cycling brand with a range of bikes encompassing touring, racing and cyclocross. Distributor 2x2 Worldwide, who also look after Land Rover and Montague bikes, will be bringing the nine-model range to a shop near you this month.

The range has clear leanings towards affordability with the Cycle to Work scheme well within its sights. Prices start at £449.99 and rise to £979.99 for the most expensive model. New cyclists will find well designed, well specified and good looking road bikes such as the Menthe, a steel framed Audax bike complete with mudguards that looks ideal for winter riding and commuting.

Fancy something a little racier? The Vercours R9 (£979.99) has a double butted 7005 aluminium frame with internal cable routing, Shimano Tiagra 10-speed groupset and compact 50/34 chainset. There’s clearance for mudguards and it’s finished with Schwable Lugano tyres.

An interesting model is the Etape 250 (£699.99). With a double-butted steel frame with mechanical disc brakes, mudguards and a rack, it has all the hallmarks of a long distance/ultimate commuting bike. It is fitted with a Shimano Sora groupset, a triple chainset and Continental Sport Contact tyres.

It’s not all slick tyres - the Conquest 3500 (£779.99) is a smart disc-equipped cyclocross bike. A 7005 aluminium frame, Shimano Sora 18-speed drivetrain, Tektro Lyra disc brakes, a carbon fork and Maxxis Raze tyres complete a tidy package.

And finally, how about the Carbon Drive G8 (£899.99) for the daily commute? You get an aluminium frame with a Shimano Nexus 8-speed internal gear hub driven by a Gates carbon belt drive. A Suntour magnesium swing suspension fork and flat bars will take the edge of nasty roads and provide a comfortable upright position for negotiating traffic.

2x2 Worldwide’s Sales Director Scott Hillyard says: “The Roux range is packed full of innovation and style - the heart of any bike is the frame and Roux have taken the utmost care too design frames that perform superbly, weights are minimal, sizing and fit have been simplified, and ergonomics and rider comfort have not been compromised.”

The range will be available in December with all models arriving by January 2013. More details at www.2x2worldwide.com/ROUX/

Does it matter that the CX frame has a brake cable stay where your shoulder needs to go?
