New site searches for cycling products as cheaply as possible

A new website called Bikehound has just been launched with the aim of finding the cycling kit you’re looking for as cheaply as possible.

Bikehound searches internet cycling websites for the products you’re after and puts the results in one easy-to-access place.

London cyclists Charles Farley and Marco Framboli came up with the idea of publicising assorted retailers' sale bargains, end of line stock, one off specials and bargain box blowouts, so that cyclists and prospective cyclists all over the UK have access to all the big brand equipment they need at the lowest prices.

The guys behind Bikehound say that by saving people money they are encouraging more people to get on their bikes and stay fit.

“I think it's pretty cool and hopefully it can get people kitted up that bit more so they can ride all types of journeys and in all conditions for whatever their limited budget might be,” said Marco. “It’s another good component in the drive to get more people out riding more often

“The original idea for Bikehound came out of reminiscing about bike shop annual clearance sales where half of the fun was rummaging through bargain boxes stacked all across the shop floor.”

There are currently over 25,000 items listed on Bikehound with more being added every week. Retailers need to contact Bikehound to have their shop and stock included; details aren’t added automatically.

Looking pretty good - need to be able to list results by price for it to be very useful - but def. goes on the 'scouting for stuff I don't really need list of sites'!

I did find it a little slow. Another problem, they don't take account of something be in stock or available to buy.

I just clicked on base layers, the first item looked a great deal from CRC, but the problem being, I got to CRC to find "Item discontinued"

Apologies for the blatant self-promotion, but any Australian readers should check out Byke. It finds the cheapest cycling gear from lots of the big UK stores, and also covers shipping costs to Australia.

(And if there's enough interest in the motherland then we might look to create a UK-specific version)
