Video: the hardest cyclocross race in the world

Geoff Waugh trains his eye on the Three Peaks race to show the brutality of the terrain. And the weather.

It's tough, the Three Peaks. Long and hard and unrideable for long stretches. And, this year, horrifically wet and muddy with flooded lanes and bogs to trap the wheels of the unwary.

We've seen the comedy faceplant but nothing captures the mood of the race quite like a gritty black and white vid, which top cycling photographer Geoff Waugh has duly supplied. Geoff's better known for his stills but we think you'll agree that he turns his hand to the moving image very well, capturing the brutal terrain and conditions. From the moment a rider goes down on the tarmac near the start, filmed from a rear facing camera, things just get more and more epic. Chapeau to anyone that finished this year.
