IG London Nocturne heads indoors for January's London Bike Show
ExCel exhibition centre in London's Docklands to host four days of racing to tie in with annual show
The ExCel exhibition centre in London’s Docklands has seen its fair share of sporting action in recent months, including hosting the Olympic fencing, boxing, judo and tai kwon do competitions, but next January brings something on an altogether different scale with the Lodon Bike Show hosting an indoor criterium organised by the same people behind the Nocturne Series.
Entering its third year, the incorporation of a version of the IG London Nocturne into the programme for the 2013 show, which runs from 17-20 January, is aimed at reinforcing its status as London’s biggest bike show.
Races will be run on each of the four days of the show, including men’s and women’s elite criteriums, plus events for youths, media/industry and corporate teams. There will also be folding bike and penny farthing races, as seen at the IG London Nocturne held annually at Smithfield Market.
Geraldine Reeve, Show Director of The London Bike Show, commented “We’ve been working on this partnership for a number of months and we’re excited to be teaming up with Face Partnership and bringing this fantastic, entertaining series of racing to the show.
“Nocturne Series has run events all over the UK and we’re delighted to welcome it to The London Bike Show. This partnership will play a key role in the development of the show and I hope this will be the start of a long and successful partnership between Face Partnership and VOS Media. These are unprecedented times for cycling in the UK and we’re privileged to be part of it.”
James Pope of Face Partnership, organisers of the Nocturne Series, added: “We are delighted to be working with The London Bike Show. This is a key moment in our growth strategy and we were inspired by the idea of creating a indoor circuit as part of the show - we look forward to working with VOS Media to help take the event to the next level. The London Bike Show attracts a fantastic audience so we are excited show them what the Nocturne has to offer."
