Eurosport's Harmon planning E2E tandem attempt for 2010

Duo planning project for next year

Could Eurosport cycling commentator David Harmon and his partner in crime, Jez Harmon be planning a Cracknell/Romero style tandem ride next year? If their regular ‘tweets’ on free social networking site twitter are anything to go by then the answer is yes.

Earlier this year the duo rode the London to Paris ride on fixed wheels, which saw them pedal approximately 200km per day over thee days up and down hills in only one gear, to raise money for the Geoff Thomas Foundation. And for their next challenge they could be doing a special tandem ride in 2010.

Recent posts by the twosome would suggest something’s afoot. Jez Hastings (Velo Club d'Ardbeg) has remarked ‘Special Tandem Project 2010 - more than londres-paris’ and ‘am off to meet up with@spokesmen to discuss STP10.’

And David Harmon commented ‘STP10 is go! 9 super hard months ahead’, ‘busy week ahead, Hamburg Cyclassics and Tour of Ireland on Eurosport and the very first meeting with Jez Hastings about STP10...it's coming’ and ‘STP10 starts next week.....meetings and planning...stay tuned.’

Earlier this month Olympians James Cracknel and Rebecca Romero attempted a tandem record bid from Land’s End to John O’Groats but had to withdraw due to injury to Romero’s knees. The record attempt also marked the launch of the Deloitte Ride Across Britain. They hoped that their lack of tandem experience would be made up for by their natural athletic ability. Will Hastings and Harmon fair better on their particular ride?
