Cyclists wanted for BBC science documentary

BBC1 to broadcast human power experiment

A new science documentary to be broadcast on BBC1 is on the look out for keen and frequent cyclists to take part in a pioneering ‘Human Power’ experiment.

Dragonfly TV is looking for fit cyclists over 16 years of age to take part in a novel experiment which attempts to convert human pedal power into electricity. The event will be filmed and broadcast on BBC1 this autumn.

Those involved will be asked to pedal in short bursts at a range of speeds to try and produce enough electricity to power a number of common household appliances.

The experiment will take place on Septembr 5 and September 6 in Milton Ernest, Bedfordshire. If you are interested and would like to find out more, telephone Emma Hughes on 0207 033 3198 or email her at pedalpower [at] dragonfly.tv

You will be asked to complete a simple medical questionnaire to confirm your fitness to participate.

Dragonfly TV was launched as Firefly in 2004 and are producers of factual programmes such as Kill It Cook It Eat It and Jamie's Fowl Dinners. They've won two Royal Television Society awards for their progs - will the human power experiment be the next?

If you get a spot on the show we'd love to hear your experiences: write to use at write [at] road.cc or comment on this story...
