Webbs Custom Cycles shows off new race frame

Alu-framed offering has already won local races and looks a good option for racers on a budget

Heard of Webbs Custom Cycles? Possibly not, because up until recently Webbs has primarily been an independent bike shop located not a million miles away from road.cc towers in Warmley, near Bristol. Just the other end of the cycle path from us in fact.

However, through their association with Velo Club Bristol, Webbs have forged a path into developing race bikes, and over the last two years Simon Davis and Jon Hirons have been working with Taiwanese frame builders to come up with a race bike for the team. And with some success: the frame has notched up three wins in local races so far.

The race bike is an alloy frame with Carbon seatstays, and Webbs build the bikes up with Columbus or Deda forks and Deda cockpit components for race-ready handling. Complete bikes are available from £700, and Campag-equipped bikes start at £1,000; the one pictured has a Campag Veloce/Centaur transmission and Campag Sirocco wheelset, and would set you back £1,300.

The brand is in its infancy but more models are planned, including MTBs and hybrids, and they're looking to provide custom colours too. The first full batch of race frames is on the way, so if you'd like more information on the bikes head over to www.webbsofwarmley.com or contact the shop on 0117 9673676
