Boardman release Limited Edition TK/20 bike
A track bike that'll take brakes for the road at just under a grand...

Boardman Bikes are releasing a limited edition track bike called the TK/20 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Chris Boardman’s gold medal at the 1992 Olympics.

In stark contrast to today, when Boardman won the 4,000m pursuit in Barcelona it was the first British gold on the track for 72 years. How times have changed.

To mark the 20th anniversary, Boardman Bikes have created the Elite Series TK/20 in a limited edition of - fittingly - 92 signed bikes. They’re priced at £999.99.

The TK/20 is built around a lightweight, triple-butted alloy frame with a track-specific geometry and stainless steel dropout plates. It’s finished with gold decals and a metal head badge. The aero fork is full carbon with a tapered steerer. Although they don’t come as part of the package, the design allows you to fit both front and rear brakes, so it can go on the road as well as the track.

"Success on the track in '92 was the springboard for my career as a pro rider,” said Chris, who is R&D Director at Boardman Bikes as well as an expert analyst for ITV's Tour de France coverage. “Every hour spent in the velodrome paid back tenfold when I started to ride for a pro tour team. Track cycling might be a specific beast but I wanted to create a bike that could, without compromise, also be used on the road, so brake compatibility has been designed in. It would certainly make a unique fast-fixie."

The spec includes a Truvativ Omnium GXP chainset, Fizik Arione saddle and cboardman Carbon/Pro finishing kit. In fact, seeing as we have it right here, we’ll print the whole spec sheet below.

The Limited Edition TK/20 is available worldwide. In the UK you need to contact one of Boardman’s Elite Series independent bike dealers (rather than Halfords who stock the Boardman Performance Series). You can pre-order now for September delivery.

I have to say IMHO Mr Boardman along with Peter Keen were the men who started the process that has now given "us" the first British Tour de France victory.

Agreed - although the pace of the revolution has shot through the roof since Sydney 2000, the 8 years previous to that and the work of these 2 was instrumental. Everybody remember's Boardman's Lotus, even guys that read the Sun.
