Vulpine schwag: we have a winner!

Having a toddler bike time is precious so my favourite is a 5 am start, just me & the wildlife on a 30 mile round trip round the country lanes in Essex and no-one about about - for those couple of hours I am king of the world....

With my 10-year-old daughter. Sea on one side, empty prom the other, fish, chips and ice-cream and a tailwind on the way back. And no dogs - see picture of right thigh...

The best kind of ride is the one the embodies freedom - the one where you head out with no pressure, no time limits and no route in mind. Just you, the bike and the open road in front of you.

4 o'clock on a summers morning. Light patches of mist loitering in the fields waiting to be burnt up by the rising sun. Silent empty roads stretching into the distance. When my commute to work is like this - i know i'm in for a great day.........no matter what happens when i get there!!

From the Sussex coast, over the South Downs into the rolling plains of the wield and back down the Adur valley to home.
Bananas for breakfast and on the bike at 7:30, 100km or so, and back home for a huge Sunday lunch - you've deserved it boyo.

smooth country roads with great scenery!

Early Autumn or spring sunshine, clear roads and crisp air.

Nice long technical climbs when you're breathing through out of your ears! A quick gulp of water and a testing descent to put you through your paces - does it get any better?

A gentle tailwind, a slight drag, spinning in the big ring. That feeling of flying whilst being connected to the road.

With luck I'll catch it at least once on a weekend long ride, preferably on a quiet road with a good view.

Rolling terrain with a nice tail wind, easy day.

Anywhere sunny!

I love my commute for clearing the days frustrations. Or thirty odd miles across Dartmoor for the escape.

Cross city conmute with not so much traffic, slightly chilly!

A ride when I can wear summer kit and leave the waterproof beind. Been a bit short of them this year.

Long and hard

Hard ride with up for it mates attacking each other on the hills. A long café stop in the sun, then a pootle back.

As the father to three young boys, my favourite ride at the moment is an early Sunday morning spin along the coast road when the rest of the world is asleep, particularly when the sun is shining.....

It would have to be Hard, Fast and Flat, with a few decents thrown in for good measure (need a speed fix)

rewarded with a cold Protein Shake (Guiness) and a bag of nuts for the ride home.

Mine is a couple of hours after work on a Friday evening during the summer on quiet roads.

I'll be getting on my bike in about 10 minutes.

I like riding in the wet. Am I weird?

Dry but not hot. No wind. Clear blue skies. 50-ish miles on smooth black tarmac. Feeling fast. Around 4000ft of climbing, hitting a few Strava PBs. With no maintenance or injury issues. Bliss!

dry, sunny, no wind, flatish with a couple of hills, chewing the fat with good mates and a nice coffee stop with cake!
