Tom Warmerdam of Demon Frameworks in Southampton might get the credit for having been the first of the new wave of young British builders to set up shop; in his case four years ago.

We first met Tom at the Cycle Show in London where he had created his comfortable 'sitting room' stand full of nicely made steel lugged frames where the rest of the show had gone carbon crazy. It seemed a little eccentric at the time…

Last year at the inaugural Bespoked in Bristol, Demon Frameworks won the "People's Choice" award from votes cast by visitors to the framebuilders' show. The big launch this time around in late March will be his forthcoming collaboration with Mosquito Bikes, until this point champions of finely wrought steel indeed but always from the exotic builders in Italy and America.

For Mosquito, Tom says he has two new lug designs called Hermes and The Manhattan which define his new Signature Road and Signature Track frames showing first at the NAHBS show in Sacramanto at the beginning of March.

Lovely work and so nice to see metal again. Best of luck for 2012 Tom.
