Witnesses sought to rush-hour cycling fatality

Strathclyde Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident during yesterday's evening rush hour when an as yet un-named 22-year old male cyclist was fatally injured in a collision with a dark coloured vehicle.

The incident occurred on Paisley Road West near the junction with Portman Street at about 5.45pm - the vehicle, which was heading westbound did not stop after the collision and according to a report on the BBC website continued on in the direction of Paisley. The cyclist was taken to Southern General Hospital, but died there shortly after arrival.

Anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to contact the Road Policing Unit at Strathclyde Police on 0141 532 5400.

Plucked from the obscurity of his London commute back in the mid-Nineties to live in Bath and edit bike mags our man made the jump to the interweb back in 2006 as launch editor of a large cycling website somewhat confusingly named after a piece of navigational equipment. He came up with the idea for road.cc mainly to avoid being told what to do… Oh dear, issues there then. Tony tries to ride his bike every day and if he doesn't he gets grumpy, he likes carbon, but owns steel, and wants titanium. When not on his bike or eating cake Tony spends his time looking for new ways to annoy the road.cc team. He's remarkably good at it.
