Tour of Britain Stage 8a: Dowsett clinches ITT, Boom set to take overall crown

Team Sky's Alex Dowsett, who earlier this month won the British Time Trial Championship, showed off his new red, white and blue skinsuit in the best possible way this lunchtime in London, winning the Tour of Britain Stage 8a Time Trial on an 8.8 kilometre course starting and finishing in Whitehall. Rabobank's Lars Boom, last man out on the course in the race leader's gold jersey, retains the overall lead going into this afternoon's 88.8 kilometre stage 8b circuit race, covering 10 laps of the same course between Westminster and Tower Bridge.
